The Cottage Inn & Spa was designed and created by Robert Behrens. He was inspired by his world travels and extracted beautiful elements from many countries to turn two modest and neglected houses into a unique, tranquil inn.
Robert was an environmental site-specific sculptor who has many public art works around the country from Fairbanks, Alaska to New Orleans, Louisiana. He came to Sonoma in 1987 and fell in love with this quaint town. He joined the city planning commission and fought to beautify the town while keeping Sonoma’s urban growth boundary intact. He was awarded a proclamation from the city for “his professional expertise and his personal passion for the preservation of the charm and historic character of our city.”
Unfortunately, his life was taken from him too soon from cancer, but his legacy lives on through this inn where he believed that being surrounded by beauty was paramount in life. We are happy to share his creation with our guests and hope that you too will enjoy our small oasis here in Sonoma.
“The Cottage Inn and Spa is one of America's most romantic lodgings.”
Enjoy breakfast in the privacy of your own suite. The Cottage Inn & Spa offers a continental plus breakfast. Each of our guest suites has a refrigerator stocked with milk, fresh orange juice, cream cheese, butter, jam and coffee creamer. All rooms also have a bowl of fresh fruit, assorted healthy cereals, local ground coffees and teas. Every morning we deliver fresh baked goodies from our local Sonoma bakery. We hang them on a hook outside your guest suite door, but we don’t knock! Just know that they are out there waiting for you at about 8am each morning.
